When it comes to producing high quality products, Jim and Nancy Currie know the business of baking. In 1985, history was made. After apprenticing for a few months with the baker at the Thornbury Bakery in Thornbury, Ontario, Nancy was able to purchase the business. Along side the purchase of a striving business in the up and growing Georgian Bay area, came all the tried and true recipes which now have over 25 years of rich tradition in the community.
For many years Jim and Nancy continued to grow the bakery as well as their other business; custom-built reproduction and log furniture. In May 2007, Jim and Nancy decided to utilize their expertise and passion and opened a tiny shop in Flesherton, Ontario.
In the beginning both Jim and Nancy became overwhelmed, with how busy and successful the bakery had become, they decided to focus on the bakery and phase out the furniture business. (You can find some of their unique pieces at The Bakery) Operational space had become a major issue and when the historical building on the Corner of Highway 10 and Grey Road 4 became available for purchase, they jumped on it.
The new location was opened in May of 2009 and has been more successful than ever. The Curries have a winning combination of producing quality products with real ingredients, sourcing local and fresh whenever possible. Today, The Bakery has become a staple in the community for all baked goods as well as a great place to stop and have a fantastic grilled cheese.
